Step into healing

Does any of the following resonate with you?

  • Putting everyone else’s needs before your own

  • Feeling lost and unable to make decisions for yourself

  • Growing up with different cultural backgrounds and confused about which culture you truly belong to

  • Feeling that you don’t *quite* belong anywhere

  • Constant stress that you must “always be perfect” in the eyes of others

If so, you’ve come to the right place.

NYC is one of the most diverse cities in the world, and home to many with varied racial/ethnic identities. Even here, the complexities of cultural, ethnic and racial difference can be confusing and challenging to navigate.

Let’s face it, the fast-paced NYC grind is real. Add to it a demanding career and your dream of having a healthy work/life balance may feel like something you’ll never achieve.

Here’s the thing:

Happiness isn’t something you achieve.

Efforts to fit in everywhere and belong in one place can feel emotionally taxing and exhausting. As time goes on, it becomes difficult to meet everyone’s expectations and live up to various definitions of “perfection.” Perhaps the skills you have used in the past to help you survive have become outdated and problematic, keeping you from living your life to the fullest.

What would your life be like if...

  • You were no longer stuck feeling lonely, sad, confused, anxious, or disconnected?

  • You stopped feeling like you’re living between two worlds, not truly belonging to either, and found connection and purpose?

Feelings of restlessness, anxiety, shame, guilt and inadequacy may be the consequences of neglecting the challenging emotional struggles inherent in issues of identity.

Turn Your Gaze Inward

A satisfying life requires a balance between how much attention we pay to the external world (work, relationships, etc.)  and the extent to which we attend to our internal, emotional world.

This can be challenging because mainstream American culture favors focusing on external stimulus (higher education degree, satisfying societal expectations, getting a job promotion, comparing our lives to Instagram highlight reels) over our vast internal worlds.

It’s almost by design that we spend so much time focusing outside ourselves.

If you are ready, we can begin to start exploring your internal world by exploring the origins of your thoughts, behavior and feelings. Together we’ll identify healthy coping skills to relieve the symptoms that brought you here.
